Dillon Johnson is reeling from the death of his beloved stepmother Paula. When her will is read, he finds she has not only had a daughter he knew nothing about, abut also gave her up for adoption. Paula’s will had left a bequest to this daughter, a young woman named Carly James.

          Carly, upon receiving word of the bequest, travels from Oregon to Dillon’s remote Nebraska ranch to learn more about her birth mother. Upon meeting she and Dillon experience an intense attraction for each other. As they become acquainted, strange men threaten them and bring violence into their lives.

          It all seems to be connected to Paula’s journals. But why?

 

Dangerous Revelations, a contemporary romantic suspense by Jacki Ring, is a current release by the Wild Rose Press.

          The phrase ‘ripped from the headlines’ comes to mind with this romantic thriller set in the remote Sandhills of Nebraska. Young widower Dillon Johnson and his darling little girl invite Carly James into their home, hoping to get to know the infant—now a young woman—his step-mother gave up shortly after her birth. Perhaps getting to know Carly will help solve some of the mystery surrounding Paula’s sudden appearance in Dillon’s life—like why she seemed content to lead a reclusive life on their ranch, or the journals she kept so religiously, as well as her obsession for fire safety. When threats about Paula’s journals increase in their intensity and duration, the mystery becomes not only who, but why? 

Our Review: Author Jacki Ring has crafted a page turning thriller that features well-drawn and layered characters, nasty bad guys, and break your heart compassion for a young pregnant woman with nowhere to go, nowhere to turn.

On a scale of 1-5, Dangerous Revelations deserves a 7.
